A decade at The Castle
Belturbet Gastro Pub is recognised supporter of Created in Cavan brand.
The national award winning Castle Sports and Gastro Pub in Belturbet will next year celebrate 10 years in business.
“It’s been an incredible journey,” says a proud Ray Slaughter, proprietor of popular local business alongside wife Diane.
“Next June, so we’ve a few ideas planned for that. It’s a great achievement.”
In the run up to Christmas The Castle has just launched a new festive menu, complete with family favourites such as Supreme of Chicken, Beer Battered Fish and Chips, Roast Stuffed Turkey and Ham, and all topped off with tasty desserts such as Tiramisu and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
“It’ll be available all over Christmas and has some fabulous items on it. We have our steaks, which we’re particularly well-known for - 10oz Sirloin or a 60z Steak Sandwich, our Slaughter House Burger, and of course on the starter menu, Belturbet’s very own Corleggy Cavanbert Cheese, and our new Boneless Pork Belly.”
A recognised supporter of the Created in Cavan brand, The Castle sources all its produce from as close to the front door as possible.
“We’re all about supporting local,” says Ray, who commends head chef Pauric Dolan for leading that charge from the kitchen.
“It’s a big part of what we do here, and what we wanted to from from the first day we opened our restaurant.”
The Castle Bar restaurant has recently undergone a complete renovation, and Ray and his staff are already taking bookings for Christmas parties and other events in the run up to the festive season.
The venue even hosted two wedding receptions recently. “We’re delighted they went well, and it’s definitely something we’re looking to do more of in the years to come. We’ve had Christenings and Communions as well. The feedback has been really brilliant, and we’re so delighted everyone had such good days.”
Aside from delicious food, comfortable surrounds, and great craic, The Castle has announced their Christmas Season entertainment line-up starting with Christmas Karaoke on Fridays from December 1, Christmas Party Hits with DJ Niall Doonan on December 2; Celtic Storm on December 9; Conor Magree on December 16, and Dozy & Co on December 17; Basskillers on December 23.
Post Christmas will see the Breeze play December 26, and January 1; The Basskillers back on December 30; and a New Year’s party with Fabian Gillick on January 31.
