Issues at plant sees night time water restrictions imposed on Dowra village
Night-time water restrictions will be in place in Dowra Village until further notice.
An "issue" at Dowra Water Treatment Plant prompted Uisce Éireann to issue the notice which comes into effect tonight, from 11pm until 7am and will continue each night until further notice.
The "essential over-night restrictions" are required to enable Dowra Public Water Supply to maintain daytime supply.
Areas affected include the Dowra Village and surrounding areas. Water levels will be reviewed each morning and updates provided to the community as necessary.
Speaking about conserving water, Uisce Éireann’s Peter Gallagher said: “The restrictions are necessary due to issues at the water treatment plant. The restrictions will allow reservoir levels to recover overnight and maintain a consistent supply of drinking water for customers during the day.
“It is important that we all consider our water usage and look at simple yet impactful ways to conserve water. It can sometimes be difficult to know where to start, but even small changes can make a significant difference, for example, turning off the hose, avoiding power washing and checking for leaks on outdoor taps.
