Dernakesh water supply deemed safe
Elevated aluminium levels were detected seven weeks ago
The 'Do Not Cosume' warning notice issued to all water users served by Dernakesh Group Water Scheme has been lifted with immediate effect.
Cavan County Council lifted the notice following consultation with the Health Service Executive.
There are 276 domestic connections on the Dernakesh scheme and they have been warned against consuming due to elevated levels of aluminium in their water supply since August 9.
"The water is now safe for use and can be used for drinking and food preparation," assured a council spokesperson.
"Please note that if your internal/domestic water system has been in general use throughout the period of the notice you may now use your water supply as normal.
"If water systems have not been in use for the duration of the notice, consumers should ensure that they flush out their systems by running their hot and cold taps for a period of at least thirty minutes before resuming normal use of the water supply."
