The Strypes' Snapshot turns 10 years old
Hit singles include "Blue Collar Jane", "Hometown Girls", "What a Shame", "Mystery Man" and "You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover".
Its hard to believe, mainly because The Strypes themselves were but sprightly young faced teens with an ambition to take over the music world, but their debut album 'Snapshot' turned 10 years old this weekend.
Featuring singles "Blue Collar Jane", "Hometown Girl", "What a Shame", "Mystery Man" and "You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover", the album- produced by highly acclaimed Chris Thomas at Yellow Fish Studios in England- was first released on September 9, 2019.
'Snapshot' was received positively, entering Number 2 in the Irish charts and 5 in the UK.
Featuring Ross Farrelly (lead vocals, harmonica, percussion, guitar), Josh McClorey (lead guitar, vocals), Pete O'Hanlon (bass guitar, harmonica), and Evan Walsh (drums, percussion, keyboards), the album helped catapult a young band from Cavan further into the public consciousness.
The band's debut EP Young, Gifted & Blue brought them surprise success and recognition in 2012, topping the iTunes Blues charts. Soon after they were signed to Elton John's record label and went onto perform with the likes of he Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Marr and Paul Weller on tour.
The band announced their split on social media in November 2018.
