Cavan AFL star helps club launch new season
2020 'Best First Year Player' entering fifth year as an AFL professional player.
Former Cavan GAA football star Aishling Sheridan helped Collingwood Football Club launch the start of their new upcoming season.
The 2019 rookie signing is now entering her fifth year as a professional player with Melbourne's famous black and whites.
In 2018 the Mullahoran native was one of just 18 other Irish to travel to Australian as the AFL women's game began to build in scale. She is now one of the most recognisable faces in the sport, and a beacon of success for other Irish women looking to switch codes.
Aisling's family are all heavilu involved in GAA back home- her father Gerry playing for both Mullahoran and Cavan, as well as managing the Cavan Ladies.
Her mother Monica and sisters Geraldine, Louise, and Mona meanwhile all played for Mullahoran.
Aisling made her professional debut for Collingwood against West Coast at Victoria Park in the opening round of 2020, a season in which she would help her side reach the finals series.
She also earned the personal accolade of being named Best First Year Player award, together with Alana Porter.
