Have your say on the draft Bailieborough Town Centre First Plan
Cavan County Council has published the draft Town Centre First plan for Bailieborough and invites members of the public to submit written observations on the draft plan, which is available to view now at www.cavancoco.ie/towncentrefirst
The Town Centre First (TCF) policy, launched by the Government in 2022, aims to create town centres that function as viable, vibrant, and attractive locations for people to live, work and visit, while also functioning as the service, social, cultural, and recreational hub for the local community.
The TCF Policy recognises that Irish Towns are facing significant challenges and opportunities, and that a ‘one size fits all’ approach will not work. This new Government policy commits to providing resources to address many of the challenges facing our towns so that they can serve the needs of the local community in a vibrant and sustainable way.
Each Local Authority was invited to nominate towns for consideration under phase one to develop a Town Centre First plan and Bailieborough was nominated in County Cavan.
County Cavan’s Town Regeneration Officer, Caroline Brady, has been working with a multidisciplinary consultancy team who will lead the development of the Town Centre First plan in consultation with the local community and businesses.
A consultation event was held in the Bailie Hotel on August 16 and interested parties may also submit written feedback on the draft plan before 5pm on August 28.
Town Regeneration Officer Caroline Brady says: “We have had fantastic engagement with the community in Bailieborough throughout the process of developing this draft plan, for which we are very grateful, and we hope to hear from as many people as possible before 28th August to ensure that the Town Centre First Plan for Bailieborough meets the aspirations of the whole community.”
