Additional €730K for Percy French Hotel project

Almost €729,000 in funding has been approved this morning to support major regeneration project in Cavan.

The investment, confirmed by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, will support the delivery of Cavan’s Ballyjamesduff Community and Enterprise Hub at the premises formerly known as the Percy French Hotel.

The additional funding brings to €7.65 million the overall investment in this project.

It will see the former Percy French Hotel transformed – delivering a café, office space and remote working facilities.

The project is designed to significantly rejuvenate the town and is being funded under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).

The RRDF is a €1bn scheme that revitalises town centres – making them more attractive to live, work, invest and raise a family.

Announcing the additional funding, Minister Humphreys said: “This project is so important to support the development of Ballyjamesduff and really will make such a difference to the town and the wider region.

“Cavan County Council has submitted a detailed proposal to my Department outlining the need for additional funding to support the project’s completion.

“It has been independently assessed and approval is now being given.”

Minister Humphreys added that the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund is a "hugely significant scheme that is transforming our towns and villages right across the country" and "breathing new life into our rural areas, making them better places to live, work, invest in and raise a family".
