Cycling to raise funds for MND
Members of Oldcastle and Ballyjamesduff cycling clubs will complete a 500km cycle in just 48 hours in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Ireland on June 10 and 11. The group will depart from Laytown in County Meath on the first day of the cycle and make their way to Lahinch, and the following day they will depart form The Cliffs of Moher and return home to Oldcastle.
Angela Dowd Brady who is organising the cycle said the charity is close to her heart.
"A family member of mine has Motor Neurone Disease so we're eager to help. We've been out cycling at least three times a week for the last few months.
To date we've raised €13,800 to date and we expect to raise €3,000-€4,000 more. One event we did was a Sportif, which was a 60km cycle from Oldcastle to Ballyjamesduff via Finea.
There were over 100 cyclists, with different cycling clubs including Virginia and Bohermeen clubs. It was a great response."
Angela praised those involved in the group.
"There are great people involved. I wouldn't be able to do it if it wasn't for my friends and those involved in the group."
