Semi final heart break for Leona Maguire in Las Vegas

Ballyconnell's Leona Maguire narrowly missed out a place in the final of the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play after she lost out to Japan's Ayaka Furue in the semi-final in Las Vegas.

Playing in temperatures in the mid-30s in Vegas, a tough week appeared to finally catch up with Maguire who started the semi-final strongly.

In what was Maguire's sixth match in the space of four days, she recovered after losing the opening hole to win four of the next and was 2up after eight.

However the Cavan woman faded on the back nine and had no answer as Furue took control, winning four holes and losing none to wrap things up and claim a 2&1 victory.

In the other semi-final Thailand's Pajaree Anannarukarn got the better of Linn Grant, winning 3&1 to set up a final against Furue.
