Football championship excitement builds after draws made
Round 1 fixtures set for Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships
The Cavan GAA club championship draws took place on last night in Stradone Community Centre and has thrown-up some mouth-watering clashes.
All three football championships will follow the usual format with four group games and a new draw each week with the top eight teams progressing to the quarter finals.
In the Kiernan Service Station Senior Football Championship Round One it’s:
Killygarry V Mullahoran,
Gowna V Lacken,
Castlerahan V Ballinagh,
Cavan Gaels V Kingscourt Stars,
Ramor Utd V Crosserlough,
Laragh Utd V Lavey
The championship gets up and running on the weekend of August 18.
The McEvoy’s Supervalu Virginia Intermediate Football Championship opening round will begin on August 11. The round one draw is:
Killinkere V Drumlane,
Ballymachugh V Drumgoon,
Cuchulainns V Belturbet,
Ballyhaise V Bailieborough,
Denn V Templeport,
Cornafean V Cootehill,
Shercock V Butlersbridge
In the Michael Fitzpatrick Architects Ltd Junior Football Championship round one has paired:
Maghera V Drung,
Redhills V Drumalee,
Shannon Gaels V Kildallan,
Kill V Knockbride,
Arva V Munterconnacht,
Swanlinbar V Killeshandra,
Corlough V Mountnugent.
These games will take place on the weekend starting August 11.
The race for the Tom Walsh Senior Hurling championship cup will see:
Cootehill V Mullahoran St Josephs,
Pearse Ogs V East Cavan Gaels.
The hurling championship gets going on the last weekend in September with each team playing three group games resulting in the top two team progressing to the final.
