New ukrainian hub opens
Over the past 12 months, 1,700 displaced Ukrainian people have come to live in towns and villages all over County Cavan. CCLD, alongside the Ukrainian Community Response Forum, AURI and Community and Voluntary organisations have responded to the needs of these people in their most vulnerable state. A year after first opening the Palyanytsya Ukrainian Hub on the Old Dublin Road, the centre has found a new home on Bridge Street, Cavan Town. The opening event was attended by Cathaoirleach John Paul Feeley, CE of CCLD Terry Hyland, Brendan Smith TD, Senator Diarmuid Wilson, and members of the Ukrainian community.
The new Ukrainian Cultural Centre will build on the work undertaken over the past 14 months and continue to run a Wellbeing Programme, After School Support and Ukrainian Saturday School, Intensive One to One Counselling and Group Counselling Supports, as well as group Networking, Raising Community Awareness, and Supporting people into Education, Training and Employment.
