Bereavement notices for Cavan and Monaghan

Death and funeral notices

It is with regret that we note the following deaths from County Cavan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Rosemary Murphy (née Crerand)

New Jersey and, Cavan

Rosemary Murphy (née Crerand), aged 93, passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 9 in the caring hands of her family and of the staff of the Center for Hope hospice facility in Scotch Plains, NJ. Over the many decades she enjoyed a wonderful, adventurous life, and any challenges met were overcome with spirit, determination and ambition.

She was a strong-willed person with an impeccable moral code and a wide range of interests, in particular a love of art, music, literature, history and travel.

Outside of raising her family, she had a very active life pursuing various business activities with Peter, her husband of 59 years. Starting out with child nursing in Scotland, and ultimately leading to a thirty year career encompassing the luxury goods industry on both sides of the Atlantic.

Rosemary was a font of wisdom accumulated over her long life which she imparted to all, asked for or not, and perhaps her greatest legacy was her encouragement of the pursuit of education, taking the greatest pride in the education of her children and grandchildren.

We will remember her energy, determination and indominatable spirit and celebrate her long, well lived life full of goodness and kindness.

She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
