Cavan hub to take part in first ‘Digital First’ Day
The Digital Hub in Cavan is set to participate in Ireland’s first ever ‘Digital First’ Day today (Wednesday, November 16), the aim of which is to kickstart a national conversation about the benefits of digital growth to people, organisations and communities.
Driven by a new collaborative, Digital Ireland Network (www.digital-ireland.ie), Ireland’s 262 Connected Hubs will be encouraged to host seminars, meetups or workshops for their locality around the theme of the benefits of digital growth.
Cavan Digital Hub will host a ‘Scaling Through Digital’ seminar from 11.30am-1pm, with guest speakers including Padraig Cahill, founder of Opus Web Design; Implementing Digital Strategies with Nikki McGoohan, director of Propel2Gether; and Tara Humphreys, business advisor, Local Enterprise Office Cavan.
Attendance can be booked at Eventbrite.ie
The wider vision of the ‘Digital First’ Day initiaitve, Cavan Digital Hub manager Leann Connell says, is to develop a national network of ‘Digital First Communities’ by empowering rural localities to collaborate using digital growth to attract investment, remote workers, home buyers, shoppers and visitors to their community, thus advancing sustainable regional development and quality of life.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, described it as “vitally important” the role digital development has to play in supporting balanced regional development.
“Central to this is the need to close the digital divide, both at an individual level and in collective terms. Communities must be supported to leverage new technologies and new ways of doing things to ensure growth.”
