Community policing boost for Bailieborough

A new community policing car has been allocated to the Bailieborough Garda Station.

Deputy Niamh Smyth said she had been in contact with the Department of Justice about the need for a vehicle for community policing in the Bailieborough District. The large policing area serves Virginia, Mullagh, Kingscourt from its Bailieborough HQ.

“I’m delighted that this car has now been allocated to the Bailieborough District and will allow the Community Policing Division to carry out their daily tasks more efficiently.

“Community policing has become an integral part of An Garda Siochana by engaging and support rural communities on crime prevention, property marking machines, engaging with our schools/community groups and overall raising awareness about the dangers in our society and what we can do to help ourselves.

“Since this issue was raised with me a number of months ago, I have impressed upon the Minister the need for its allocation. The delivery of this vehicle can only enhance the wonderful community policing being carried out in this district at present,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
