Filmmaker captures Gowna’s joyous Final scenes
Padraig is best known for No Party for Billy Burns (2017); and You're Not a Man at All (2017).
Cavan filmmaker Padraig Conaty has posted a short video capturing the jubilation after Gowna bridged a 20-year gap with an impressive 17 point victory over Killygarry to claim the county title at Kingspan Breffni last month.
Oisin Pierson sealed the victory with three minutes of normal time remaining to make it 2-13 to 1-9.
Gowna-native Padraig is best known for his big screen film No Party for Billy Burns (2017); his short You're Not a Man at All (2017) featuring Seamus O’Rourke; and for his work on 2020’s The Turning.
The award-winning director has also been involved in attempts to revive the 55-year-old ‘Mulligan’s Millions’, a big screen production famed for having involved a cast of hundreds from around the Cavan Town and the brainchild of enigmatic priest and school teacher, Father Turlough O’Reilly.
Titled ‘It’s All About the Journey’, the film also features a touching tribute to Gowna underage GAA player, the late Colin Madden.
The youngster died following a battle with illness in May of this year.
