Major extension for St Clare's College in Ballyjamesduff
A major extension project for St Clare's College in Ballyjamesduff has been given the green light by the Department of Education.
It will accommodate two new Science labs, a Home Economics room, Music room, Textile room, two Special Education classrooms and toilet facilities.
Minister for Education Norma Foley sanctioned the project yesterday afternoon.
Cavan Fianna Fáil TDs Niamh Smyth and Brendan Smith have both warmly welcomed the "significant investment" approval.
“I am delighted for the pupils and staff within St Clare’s and I have been in contact with the school this evening to advise them of the good news from Minister Foley," said Deputy Smyth.
“I want to congratulate the principal Teresa Donnellan, her staff and Board of Management and wish them all the best in the school year ahead," she added.
Deputy Brendan Smith also joined the congratulations.
"For some time I had highlighted to Minister Foley the need to progress this application and this accommodation will enhance considerably the range of educational facilities in St Clare’s College," he said.
"I wish the school community continued success with their work,” added Deputy Smith.
Local Fine Gael councillor Trevor Smith also welcomed the funding.
