Swimmers warned of bacteria in local lake

Swimmers and bathers have been warned of poor water quality in Lough Muckno.

Monaghan County Council this afternoon issued a warning that bacteria has been found in a water sample taken on Tuesday (August 16).

It's urged people not to swim in the lake due to the increased levels of bacteria found.

Monaghan County Council says it has arranged for further samples to be taken.
