Drugs seized after car stopped and searched

Two males detained and questioned in relation to the seizures.

Gardaí have seized a quantity of cannabis following a stop and search of a vehicle in the early hours of yesterday morning

When Gardaí from Castleblayney on patrol came across a single vehicle road traffic collision, the driver of the car failed a roadside drug test testing positive for cannabis.

The male was was arrested and processed for drug driving and a subsequent search of the car was carried out where a quantity of cannabis (pending analysis) was discovered.

A follow up search under warrant was conducted at a premises and another quantity of cannabis (pending analysis) was recovered.

Two males have since been detained and questioned in relation to the seizures.

A file is currently being prepared for the D.P.P. and investigations are “ongoing”.
