Her school has issued a statement.
The funeral of Aoibhe Byrne, who died in a tragic accident this week, will take place this morning.
There was widespread shock at the death of the 14 year old, who was a well known student of Coláiste Dún an Rí in Kingscourt.
"Our hearts are breaking as we come to terms with the devastating loss of our dear student Aoibhe Byrne. Our sincere sympathies to Olivia, Gary, Oisín, Saoirse, Carolan and Gary Óg, her extended family and her friends”, said the school in a statement released following her death.
"Rest in Peace Aoibhe, you’re always in our hearts."
From the Lisnaclea area of Magheracloone, Aoibhe was also well-known in GAA circles.
Her local club, Magheracloone Mitchells, suspended all activities following news of her death yesterday evening.
In a post on social media, the club paid tribute to Aoibhe and her sporting abilities.
"Our hearts are broken as we try to come to terms with the terrible news of the sudden passing of Aoibhe.
Aoibhe was a member of our U16 girls team and started playing with the club at U10 level. She was always smiling and always having the craic. Her bubbly personality will be remembered for all eternity."
She is survived by her parents Olivia and Gary, her sister Saoirse, brothers Oisín, Caolán and Gary Óg and extended family. She was predeceased by her baby brother Ciaran.
Her funeral mass will take place in St. Peter and St Paul's Church in lower Magheracloone at 11:30am this morning, followed by burial in the adjoining new cemetery.
