Harry makes his point
Over €20k raised by Cootehill man's unique fundraiser.
A visit to each of Cavan’s GAA clubs has seen over €20,000 raised for three charities.
Harry McCabe from Cootehill kicked three points at each ground on a busy Easter Monday travelling across the county. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease three years ago, he decided the fruits of his efforts would go to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, MS Ireland and the Parkinson’s Association.
“It couldn’t have gone any better,” enthused Harry after completing the fundraiser.
Starting early on Easter Monday in west Cavan, he stopped at each of the county’s GAA clubs.
“The turnout from the clubs was amazing. Especially the local clubs, they made such a huge effort. The homecoming into Cootehill was fantastic.”
There was a large turnout in the town for Harry’s return on Monday evening, even though he was a little late.
“People hung about all evening waiting for me. I really appreciate that.”
The generosity of people across Cavan and further afield hasn’t gone unnoticed. Harry is touched by their donations and the help he’s received from family and his circle of friends.
A round-up from around the clubs:
