Support local jobs this Christmas says Brady
Shop local this Christmas is the message from local Councillor Carmel Brady.
The Fine Gael rep is encouraging people to spend their money in Cootehill and support local jobs, rather than shopping online.
Funding received for the painting and repair of streetfront buildings was well used, with praise for all those involved in the project. “There’s been a lot of work done with the grants we got for the painting of the fronts of the buildings. That’s made a huge improvement in the town. Even derelict buildings - they’re nice and bright now.”
€85,000 was given to the town for the works.
The work of the Town Team and Tidy Towns group has also been praised by Cllr Brady, particularly for their collaboration with local businesses through the streetscape scheme and other projects.
She hopes the support shown by local businesses throughout the year will be reciprocated over the Christmas period, particularly after the difficulties trading during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
“When we’re looking for spot prizes or anything for our fundraising they’ll always give us support. Remember them now when you’re doing the Christmas shopping, please stay local and remember to avoid buying online if at all possible,” she says.
