Tenders issued for Lennard Arms project
The building has been on the derelict register since 2010.
Tenders for the refurbishment of the Lennard Arms Hotel in Clones have been published.
The long derelict building is to be converted into a new exhibition space and heritage centre as part of an ambitious project by Monaghan County Council.
The town’s High Cross was to be moved into the centre as part of the plans, with a replica placed in The Diamond.
The Local Authority said it was to protect the Cross from damage and erosion but it was met with opposition online.
An Bord Pleanála granted approval for the compulsory purchase of the building in July.
As part of works, extensions and other works carried out on the protected structure will be demolished and the main hotel building will be refurbished.
Tenders for the construction phase of the project have now been published.
Among the works advertised are ground investigations, excavations, removal of asbestos and refurbishments to adjoining buildings.
Submissions can be made until October 6th.
