‘We will emerge from this stronger than ever’ - Chamber
It has been a roller-coaster for businesses throughout the lockdown with the highs of re-openings and the lows of lockdown.
Despite many not being able to open their doors, Chamber of Commerce president Tom Brady praised the businesspeople of Cavan for their innovation and quick thinking in making a “swift pivot online”.
“Websites, Facebook pages, Instagram accounts and email inboxes were buzzing with chatter,” he said.
He praised the Cavan Local Enterprise Office (LEO) for lending a hand in a time of need in the form of grants and training.
He congratulated business owners on putting in “a tonne of work behind the scenes”, learning new skills, making videos and making themselves available day and night for their customers.
“It’s not easy changing how you operate,” he said.
“Our biggest thanks goes to the customers who chose to support local,” he praised the people of the Cavan area who supported local enterprise with the aid of the #LoveCavan campaign, which was greeted with “a very warm welcome”.
The campaign was launched in May 2020 and has helped people rediscover all that Cavan has to offer.
Several businesses availed of the initiative to promote their goods and services, while Mr Brady searched the hashtag #LoveCavan himself to browse what Cavan has to offer.
“I ordered online and received my package the same day,” which he said was delivered by the owner themselves.
Fast delivery and service with a smile, what other reason do you need to #LoveCavan?
Mr Brady said it has been “heartening” to see people continuing to support local by meeting up in shops, cafes and restaurants around the town.
Chamber vouchers
People can continue to show their support by purchasing a Cavan Chamber of Commerce voucher, which can be used in 100 businesses in Cavan. An ideal gift for someone special, the vouchers can be purchased in the Chamber Office, Eason Cavan and online at www.cavanchmaber.ie
Tom assured there is a “smile behind the mask” of all Cavan’s businesspeople. He praised the Cavan community who are there when we “need to lean on each other” and has no doubt that “we will emerge from this stronger than ever”.
“Cavan is open for business,” he reminded.
“Come in, enjoy the commerce, craic and community... You’ll be glad you did,” he concluded.
