Cabu unveil latest plans

Cabu by the Lakes at Killykeen has unveiled the next phase of plans to further enhance the forest tourism complex.

Killykeen Forest Holidays Limited is seeking permission from Cavan County Council to erect 15 new holiday chalets at the site, which was initially developed in the mid 1980s as holiday destination by the Department of Agriculture and Coillte.

In 2017, Killykeen Forest Holidays Ltd purchased the holiday village and invested close to €5m in upgrading the existing 28 holiday cabins within the 75-acre park site up until its opening last Easter.

Since then, Killykeen Forest Holidays Ltd has successfully transformed the former equestrian centre to rustic yet state-of-the-art guest accommodation for up to 15 people.

The latest application is to build seven more detached storey-and-a-half-style barnhouses, along with eight semi-detached single-storey cabins.

A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the planning authority with this application, which is due for decision towards the end of next month.
