Dip in December raises over €3k

Over €3,000 has been raised for the Cavan Branch of MS by people taking the plunge by getting involved in the ‘Dip in December’ initiative.

‘Dip in December’ was oganised by Therese Johnston, whose sister Eilis MacSeain from Cornafean, lives with MS.

The local mum-of-two came up with the idea considering the impact 2020 has on the fundraising effort of the local charity.

It saw dozens of people from towns and villages across the county take part.

Therese herself braved the winter waters at Annagh Lake.

Speaking to theCelt, she said that she was overwhelmed both by the response to her fundraiser, and that so many people also took part in the initiative.

“I just want to thank everyone who donated, took part, made it so fun. It really gave us such a laugh in such a depressing time.”

She issued a special thanks to the Cavan Tri Club for making ‘Dip in December’ their chosen charity and managed to arise €750 for the cause.

“Everyone was fantastic,” added a thankful Therese.
