Cavan Macra to host virtual concert for SOSAD
Cavan Macra Na Feirme is hosting a virtual concert to raise funds for SOSAD this Friday, December 18, at 8pm.
The event will be on Facebook and Zoom watch parties.
Development officer for Cavan Macra Na Feirme, Grainne McPhilips, said the idea to hold a concert to raise funds for charity was sparked by Cavan Macra members, particularly Oisin O’Reilly from Kilnaleck.
“We we’re very aware of the tragedies that have been occurring in Cavan and Monaghan.
“We wanted to do something to raise awareness and raise funds,” she told theCelt.
As part of the special broadcast, Celt editor Linda O'Reilly interviewed Christine Wynne, co-ordinator of SOSAD Cavan, about the work of the organisation in the county and the exceptional year that has been 2020.
Grainne explained that Cavan Macra understands that this Christmas is going to be like no other so the Macra members decided they would try to add some Christmas cheer by holding a concert.
“We thought that in providing a concert and entertainment, it would give people something to look forward to.
“It will brighten up the current times for everyone really.”
The Cavan Macra community are blessed to have talented members in Kilnaleck, Slieve Glah, Maudabawn, Ramor and three province Macra, all of whom will be taking part in the concert.
As well as this, Cavan Macra is currently recording a charity single which will be launched on the night.
Marty Moone and Three Bucks Left, formerly known as ‘The Hardy Bucks’, will be making an appearance on the night.
“We’re hoping to have another one or two confirmed acts in the coming days.”
