3,802 people in Cavan receive Christmas Bonus today
The first cohort to receive the Christmas Bonus are people in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP).
Some 3,802 people in Cavan received their Christmas Bonus today – totalling over €1.094 million.
Social Protection Minister and local TD Heather Humphreys released the figures as the Government a record €390 million Christmas Bonus to 1.6 million people nationwide.
The first cohort to receive the Christmas Bonus are people in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP).
In Cavan, 3,802 people received their payment into their bank accounts this morning (Tuesday), totalling €1.094 million.
Other groups such as pensioners, people with disabilities, carers and lone parents will also be paid this week.
Announcing the figures for Cavan, Minister Humphreys urged people where possible to spend the Christmas Bonus locally.
“Overall this week, some €390 million is being paid out in the Christmas Bonus – the highest amount ever.
“283,000 people are receiving their Christmas Bonus payment this morning, including 3802 people in Cavan,” Minister Humphreys said.
She continued:
“2020 has been a year like no other. As we head towards the Christmas period, I would urge everyone to consider the impact the Pandemic has had and is continuing to have on small businesses.
“I would therefore appeal to everyone who receives their Christmas Bonus today and this week, where possible, to shop local.
“By shopping locally, you are supporting your local economy, your local community and your local small businesses.”
