It is with regret that we note the deaths of the following people from counties Cavan and Monaghan in the past 24 hours as reported on RIP.ie

Marie Therese Cunningham (née Anstie)

Belerne River Village, Belturbet, Cavan

Marie Therese Cunningham (neé Anstie). Beloved wife of Tony and much-loved mother of Anna-Marie, Anthony, Michaela, Marcus and Francesca. Sadly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.

The family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals who enabled mum to spend her last months at home with dignity and comfort. Your efforts will not be forgotten. Thank you to carers Susan, Yvonne and Maureen, we had some laughs, palliative nurse Jennifer, PHN’s Ann and Marie, and night nurses Briege and Hillary. You supported mum and our family to the very end. Thank you also to our OT Michelle. We could not have asked for a better team to care for mum in her final days.

Marie will repose at home on Friday 23rd of October. Funeral service on Saturday the 24th at 4pm at Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

Due to Government and H.S.E advise Funeral private to Family and close friends.

Fair Hill and formerly Barrack hill, Cavan Town, Cavan

Jimmy Farrelly, Fair Hill and formerly Barrack Hill, Cavan Town, Wednesday, October 21st, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by his mother Mary, brother Noel and sister Eileen. Sadly missed by his father John, brothers Willie, Johnny, Thomas and Gerard, sisters Catherine, Nora, Bernie and Sharon, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many, many friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, for family only on Thursday evening from 5.00pm until 7.00pm.

Removal on Friday morning at 10.30am to the Cathedral of SS Patrick & Felim, Cavan, for Requiem Mass at 11.00am, interment afterwards in Cullies Cemetery. Funeral will be restricted to family only, please.

Anyone standing along the route are asked to observe social distancing guidelines. The family would like to thank everyone for their understanding at this time.

Eugene Keenan

Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Eugene Keenan, Ashview Court, Castleblayney and formely of Muckno Street, on Wednesday the 21st October, peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Eugene is predeceased by his mother Mary, father Owen and brother Oliver. He will be sadly missed by sisters Mary, Margaret, Susan, Ann, Patricia and Josephine, his brothers Eddie, John & Malachy, by his aunt Susan Kierans & aunt Josie Smyth, his bothers in law & sisters in law. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Eugene will be leaving his home at 10.15am on Friday morning, via Mc Grath Road, Muckno Street and then proceeding, on foot, via Main Street, to arrive at St Mary's Church, for 11am funeral Mass, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Tuesday 20th October, peacefully at her home.

Predeceased by her loving husband Eddie, daughter Siobhán, brother Seán and sisters Phyllis and Anne. Sadly missed by her loving family Marie, Eamonn, Fergal, Ciarán and Pádraig, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions Christina's funeral mass will be celebrated privately in St. Macartan's Cathedral at 11am on Thursday 22nd October followed by burial in Latlurcan Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Patrick J (Paddy Joe) O'Donnell, Crosses, Milltown, Monaghan, Tuesday 20th October, peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Paddy Joe will be sadly missed by his loving wife Kathleen, sons Ciaran, Fintan & Declan, daughters Ann & Bríd, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren and his sister Mary-Teresa Devlin.

May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Remains leaving his late residence Thursday, 22nd October, at 1.15pm via Ballyalbany & Glaslough Street, to arrive at St Macartan's Cathedral, for 2pm funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in Latlurcan Cemetery.

Sybil Smyth (née Mitchison)

The Diamond, Clones, Monaghan

Sybil Elizabeth Grace Smyth nee Mitchison (The Diamond Clones. Co. Monaghan and of Ascot, Berkshire) on 7th October 2020 after a short illness in the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey

Predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur, son Charles and brother Billy. survived by her children William and Cynthia (Dwyer), sister Helen (Baker), sister-in-law Connie, grandchildren Gillian, Paul, David, Katherine and Matthew and her great-grandchildren Cathal, Peter, Louis ,Kevin, Leo, Ethan and Alice.

Sadly missed by her nieces Sally, Nicola, Pamela, daughter-in-law Ann, son-in-law John, and her friends.

The funeral cortege will leave The Diamond, Clones at 1.45pm on Tuesday 27th October 2020 for the Church of Ireland Cemetery, Scotshouse Road, Clones for burial following a graveside service.

Due to covid the numbers are restricted to 25 as per Government restrictions.
