Cootehill to stage International cartoon festival
Up to a dozen world renowned cartoonists are due to descend on Cootehill for the first ever International Cartoon Festival in this neck of the woods. Workshops take place in Cootehill Library on Saturday morning from 10am to 1pm to booking call 049 555 9873. In addition there will be exhibitions, live drawing and general hilarity around the town.
Among the artists who have signed up are:
Hunt Emerson aka Large Cow, Hunt had done work for Melody Maker, Radio Times, Which Bike?, Time Out, Pink, Razzle, and most recently The Beano.
Jon Berkeley, client list includes Time, Newsweek, Backbone, The LA Times, Vodafone, Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia, Guinness, American Express and many more. He has illustrated over seventy covers for The Economist, and won awards from the Society of News Design, 3 x 3 and Creative Quarterly in the US. When he’s not illustrating he writes books for children.
Niall O Loughlin, who has worked for Sullivan Bluth Studios, where he worked on major films such as ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and ‘All Dogs Go to Heaven’ and ‘Help I’m A Fish.’ Niall was responsible for the delightful animated characters in the highly acclaimed Oscar nominated series, ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins.’ Widely regarded as the No1 caricaturist in Ireland.
