One charged in relation to Oldcastle seizure
Cannabis with an estimated street value of over €2 million was seized by gardaí in a raid at Oldcastle on Saturday.
As a result of a joint investigation involving the Garda National Drug Unit, the Garda Organised Crime Unit, and Customs Drug Enforcement Officers, a search was carried out at an address in the area.
During the course of the search, 120kgs of cannabis herb was located.
Two men, one aged 50 and the other 31 were arrested at the scene and questioned at Kells Garda Station.
A 31-year-old man was charged at a special sitting of Trim Court on Monday in connection with the incident.
Jason Flynn, Mount Prospect, Mountnugent, is charged with possession of cannabis for sale or supply at Newcastle, Oldcastle, on August 3 last. He was remanded on bail to the Court of Criminal Justice next Monday.
A second man arrested at the time has been released and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
