Man arrested in bailieborough watermeter protest
A man has been arrested this morning at an anti-water meter installation protest in Bailieborough.
A 25-year-old male was arrested at around 10am this morning by gardai at a protest blocking Irish Water metering workers on the Lios na Laoi estate.
The protest is ongoing and around 20 people are still in a stand-off on the estate which is also being attended by two units from Bailieborough Garda Station.
The arrest was under Section 4 of The Public Order Act and he in custody in Baileiborough Garda Station.
Around 20 people are still at the scene blocking water meter installation and include Garda whistleblower John Wilson, Sinn Fein Cllr Paddy McDonald and local water protesters.
