Leanne Kieran is Overall Sports Star of the Year

Soccer star Leanne Kiernan is the Anglo-Celt Overall Sports Star of the Year for 2018 following tonight's glittering awards ceremony at the Cavan Crystal Hotel.

The Bailieborough soccer sensation, who plays for West Ham and the Republic of Ireland, picked up the coveted award, which was the highlight of the night, in front of a packed crowd of almost 300 attendees at the Cavan Town venue.

Elsewhere, Butlersbridge cyclist Leo Doyle is the new Young Sports Star of the Year. Loreto College ladies footballers picked up the Team of the Year award, with ladies football coach Mick Flynn winning the Outstanding Achievement award.

Club of the Year went to Crosserlough GAC with Damian O'Reilly (Ballinagh GFC) winning PRO of the Year.

Elsewhere, athletics legend Catherina McKiernan received a standing ovation as she accepted the Hall of Fame award.
