3 Province Festival to take place in Arva
The Gathering is about bringing people together and basking in culture and the people of Arva certainly know how to do this with the announcement of the line-up for the Arva 3 Province Festival.
The festival, which is an 10 day long event and one of the biggest Gathering events to take place in the region, is set to draw massive crowds to Arva with their long list of activities which appeal to every age group. This event is set to shine the spotlight on the rich heritage and culture of Arva and the surrounding area.
The Arva 3 Province Festival is bursting with a variety of entertainment including annual favourites such as the Agricultural show and the Brefini Challenge.
This entertainment packed festival opens on July 26th with the Ghosts of Arva Exhibition as well as live music in the Market square.
The Arva 3 Province Trail & Arva 3 Province Historical Bus Tour takes place on 27th July starting at the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva @ 2pm, for 11.4km walk, & starting at Gulladoo @ 3pm, for a 5.6km walk. The Historical Bus Tour starts at the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva @ 2.30pm, guided by Mr. Jim Williamson.
Over the course of the long festival there is plenty to do with activities such as the Soapbox Derby, fishing competition, Gaa blitz, folklore as part of the Arva Gathering as well as live street music with even a busking competition being held. A showcase of historical artefacts and photography will also be open for public view.
Meanwhile, the Queen of the Fair will be making a comeback as Arva will be transported back in time to the 1930/40’s with the old Arva Fair Day, Sunday 4th August, including the horse fair, and the fair dance.
A family fun oriented sports day and BBQ will mark the conclusion of the action packed festival on August 5th.
