Argos launches new-look store

The Argos store at the Cavan Retail Park on the Dublin Road is one of 16 new stores across the country that will be unveiled this Saturday. The catalogue retail outlet will have a completely new layout and format as well as a new image. Lisa O'Connell, team leader at the Cavan branch, told The Anglo-Celt that the refurbished stores include a new format with updated jewellery and watch galleries, allowing customers to try on items before purchasing. "We will have new dedicated technology display areas showcasing cameras, video cameras, plasmas, mobile phones and satellite navigation systems will also give customers a chance to view and handle technology products before purchasing," she added. The Cavan branch opened in June 2009 and currently employs 37 staff. Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday 9am to 7pm, Thursday and Friday 9am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 6.30pm and Sunday, 11am to 6pm. New state-of-the-art touch screen browsers have been installed in each store, enabling customers to browse and search easily for items to buy. All of the stores have new quick pay kiosks where customers have the option to pay for their items electronically rather than queuing up for a cashier. According to Lisa each store will have a staff member on the floor continuously to assist customers if they have any difficulties. There will also be a limited number of special offers in each branch over the next three weeks (see advert on page 7). A total of 40 Argos branches will be refurbished at a cost of €4m with 22 of them coming on stream in August. Argos is celebrating 15 years in Ireland and provide more than 1,300 jobs. During those years the company has continuously updating their services, stores and catalogue to ensure customers have a satisfying shopping experience. Alison Evans, Argos Regional General Manager for Ireland said: "This extensive refurbishment shows that Argos is committed to developing and improving its stores in Ireland. We are dedicated to continuing our investment in Ireland, and increasing the number of stores across the country, in order to give our customers more choice, value and convenience when shopping." To celebrate the launch, each store will have exclusive launch offers in store on the day, and the first 100 customers through the doors will receive a free Chad Valley Snakes and Ladders game it will be on a first come first served basis.
