WEATHER: Storm warning upgraded to Orange for Cavan

Another weekend, another storm. Storm Jorge's arrival tomorrow morning makes it three storms in four weekends.

Orange wind warnings have been issued by Met Éireann for Cavan, Monaghan along with much of the rest of the country. Galway and Clare meanwhile are enduring a Status Red wind warning. This county's will have a yellow wind warning from 9am tomorrow morning through to 1pm, when it turns to an Orange warning right through to 7pm.

Severe westerly winds are expected to reach mean speeds of 65 to 80km/h for a time on Saturday afternoon and early evening with gusts of 110 to 120km/h, possibly higher in very exposed areas.

Weather experts warn of frequent, heavy and possibly thundery showers spreading from the west during Saturday morning and some falls of sleet and snow in places.

These conditions will lead to further flooding in places. It is set to feel very cold tomorrow, with highest afternoon temperatures of just 5 to 7 degrees.
Storm Jorge is the latest of three storms to bash Ireland in February alone: Storm Ciara landed on February 8, Dennis hit the day of the election - February 15 - and now Storm Jorge is set to announce his unwelcomed arrival.
