Drumlane footballers raise €9300 for CGH
The Chairman of Drumlane GFC Paul Fitzpatrick has expressed his gratitude to all who was involved in their recent fundraiser in support of Cavan General Hospital and the front line workers in this very difficult time in their efforts during the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.
“Our senior team manager Fintan Reilly came up with the idea of our senior team running a cumulative 200 kilometres in a day within the two kilometre radius of their own homes. They not only achieved this but exceeded it by doing 369 kilometres on the day,” stated Fitzpatrick.
“Our ladies senior team and management also came on board and collected money to provide food hampers for the frontline workers who are at the coalface of the pandemic.
“As a club, like all other clubs in the country, we have players, family and club members working in our hospitals and nursing homes giving support to those who need it and putting their own lives and that of their families whom they go home to at risk of contracting this evil virus so it is nice to be in a position to give something back.
“On behalf of our executive committee I wish to thank Fintan Reilly and Ryan Connolly who was the organiser of the senior men’s team event and to Ciara Brady, captain of the senior ladies team who organised the food hampers, and especially to all those who made donations to this worthy cause to make it such a wonderful success and I wish everyone well, especially our health care workers, at this challenging time.”
In all, the efforts raised €9,333 for the hospital while the club also donated hampers to frontline staff.
