Virginia arrest in hit and run after botched Dublin robbery
A man in his 20s was this morning arrested in the county in connection to a hit and run following an attempted robbery that took place in Dublin on Monday.
On Monday a search was under way for the motorist who left a 47-year-old in a serious condition in hospital - the man has since been stabilised by medics.
The 47-year-old man was one of two workmen who arrived in a van at a business premises at the Airport Logistics Park industrial estate.
The workmen saw a man take something from their van and put it in his car, a Mazda 626.
The Garda Press Office confirmed the arrest to the Celt this afternoon in a brief statement. He has since been transferred to Finglas Garda Station.
'A 22-year-old male was arrested and is being detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984, he can be detained up to 24 hours,' said a spokesperson.
It's understood the men ran out to stop him but one of them stood in front of the car and was knocked down. The driver then fled the scene.
The injured man was taken in Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstwon, where his condition is described as serious but stable.
