€1m winner contacts Lotto HQ
The €1 million ticket holder from last weekend’s Lotto Plus 1 draw has made contact with National Lottery headquarters, The Anglo-Celt can confirm.
The holder made contact with lotto officials “first thing” on Monday morning last, according to a spokesperson, who added that the winning ticket “has been verified”.
“We’re making arrangements with them to collect their prize,” the spokesperson said.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold ahead of last Saturday’s draw at Kiernan’s Spar/Maxol service station on the Ballinagh Road in Cavan Town.
Owner of the Spar Maxol service station on the Ballinagh Road in Cavan Town, Philip Kiernan said everyone at the local petrol station and convenience stores was in “shock” following the latest lotto news.
He surmised, that given the location of the store, “the vast majority of our customers are local”.
He said that to think “one of these people are after becoming a millionaire with a ticket they bought in the store” is unbelievable.
