FORECAST: Should Cavan fans brave the blustery weather and head to Brewster
For February it should come as no surprise that the weekend is set to be cold and blustery, however much of Saturday and Sunday will be dry.
Met Éireann's forecast for today is to be windy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The rain will turn more showery later in the day with some heavy and thundery downpours possible in the evening.
Fairly mild despite the strong and gusty southwest breeze with highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.
Cold and windy tonight with frequent heavy showers, some with hail and thunder. Some wintry falls are possible on the hills. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.
It's a similar story for Saturday with sunny spells and frequent squally showers set to go with the cold and blustery weather.
The showers will turn increasingly wintry and there will be isolated thunderstorms also. Highest temperatures of just 4 to 7 degrees but feeling colder in strong west or southwest breezes.
Fermanagh match
Those considering heading to Fermanagh to cheer on Cavan in the National League clash may be persuaded to make the journey. Whilst Enniskillen has had some nasty downpours today, and is predicted to rain again on Saturday, the forecast is for a sodden Brewster Park to get a break from the rain in in time for the 7pm throw-in.
Sunday
Back to Cavan, and Sunday is to be bookended with downpours, but from 8am through to 8pm it's at least given to be dry. So, no excuses not to get the year's gardening underway or head out for a brisk walk up Fleming's Folly.
Rain will extend nationwide early on Sunday night accompanied by strong southeast winds. Some snowfall is possible for a time in Ulster and north Connacht. Minimum temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees in the north but a much milder 5 to 9 degrees further south.
