Cavan country star nominated for music award
Up-and-coming country music star Shane Owens, who has adopted Kilnaleck as his home since launching his career earlier this year, has been nominated in the Newcomer of the Year category at Irish TV’s inaugural Country Music Awards.
“I’m delighted to have been nominated. It’s been a big year for me and this is a massive honour for myself and my band,” Owens told The Anglo-Celt this week, ahead of the awards ceremony to be held in the Armagh City Hotel on Monday, August 24 next.
“Since launching the album, it has been rollercoaster of excitement for me, playing to fantastic audiences and meeting and making great friends across the country,” he said.
The three-hour country music awards show hosted by Ireland’s princess of country music Lisa McHugh and Irish TV’s Malachi Cush will broadcast live on Irish TV on Sky 191, Freesat 400 and online at www.irishtv.ie.
As well as being nominated in his respective category, Owens will also perform on the night alongside 18 other stars from Ireland’s cream of country music.
