Your chance to speak up about disability access in Cavan

If you have burning issues in respect of disability access in Cavan, then make sure to go along to the Disability Network meeting in the Cavan Crystal Hotel on Tuesday, March 29, from 10am-1pm.
Jonathan Binchy from Cavan Access Association told The Anglo-Celt this week that “this is the time for anyone that has a disability, is caring for someone with a disability or knows somebody with a disability to be a part of this consultation process in collaboration with Cavan Council Council”.
“The formation of this new network is intended to create a strong voice. So that decision making at Council level is not done in isolation about people with disabilities, but rather is going to be done through consultation with people who have disabilities.
“Currently, we are hoping to engage a bit more closely with the hotel, accommodation and pub and entertainment business community, together with the chambers of commerce in Cavan, to get fully behind universal accessibility”, said Jonathan Binchy.

He pointed out that there is no point in being able to access a premises, if you can’t access the toilets.

The formation of this network is most important as it offers the chance to an individual with a disability to have his or her voice heard at Local Government level.
