Over 300 new COVID-19 cases, but Cavan still amongst the lowest

Another three patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Republic have died, bringing the death toll related to the virus to 22. One person in the north-west of the country and two females in the east passed away.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre also announced 302 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Republic, as at 1pm, Thursday 26 March. That brings the total of confirmed cases to 2,121.
County Cavan (9) and many of the surrounding counties remain amongst those in the Republic with the lowest number of cases. Leitrim has less than five while Monaghan has five.   
Today’s data from HPSC, as of midnight, Wednesday, March 25 (1,639 cases), reveals: 54% are male and 46% are female, with 79 clusters involving 317 cases; the median age of confirmed cases is 46 years; 419 of the 1,639 cases (26%) have been hospitalised; and of those hospitalised, 59 cases have been admitted to ICU. Another worrying statistic is that 375 cases (23%) are associated with healthcare workers.
