Cavan comedian to host online improv painting

A Cavan comedian is taking part in a brilliant way to bring together people practising social distancing and encourage them to get creative.

Kevin McGahern from Gowna will be hosting an improv live painting session on his Instagram page tomorrow afternoon, Friday, March 20, starting at 5pm, where he’ll doing a live painting of an Irish celebrity based on viewer’s suggestions.

The online initiative is take on the hugely popular Irish Paint Magic TV series with David Willis, and will run with the hashtags #paintalongwithkevin, #stayathome, and #stayathomechallenge.

“The lad to paints clouds, that’s what I want it to be like, except I’ll be doing an Irish celebrity, and where things could get messy, I looking for people to give me a hand and guide me along.”

Kevin’s hoping that people at home can also paint along with the social media show, and later post their own paintings for everyone to see.

“Since we’re all cooped up I thought it’d be a good way to reach out to people, a little bit of escapism, a bit of fun. It could be like Marty Morrissey riding a bicycle through the Curragh,” he adds.
