Over €12M in funding for 'health' projects in Co Cavan
Deputy Brendan Smith (FF) says the allocation will enhance facilities locally.
€12.3M has been allocated in an effort to “progress” a number of health projects in Co Cavan. The funding, which is being distributed under the HSE’s Capital Programme, is set to benefit the building project at Cavan General Hospital with aid of €5.97M.
€100,000 is also being provided for the new Primary Care building in Ballyconnell while €640,000 has been allocated to essential fire safety upgrade works at Virginia Community Health Centre.
Another €100,000 will be provided for the refurbishment of a vacated building on the grounds of St Davnet’s in Monaghan while a new Enhanced Community Care Hub at Cavan General Hospital is to receive €250,000.
€3M is also being provided to St Christopher’s Hospice where construction will commence shortly. Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD, Deputy Brendan Smith says the funding is a “welcome” development.
“These projects will entail substantial investment in 2026 as building work progresses. Enhanced Health Care facilities will benefit patients from all over Cavan and Monaghan,” he concluded.
