It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Christy Donegan

College St and formerly River St., Cavan Town, Cavan

Christy Donegan, College St. and formerly River St, Cavan Town, Monday March 17th 2025, peacefully after a long illness. Predeceased by his loving wife Philomena, his parents Patrick and Ellen, sister Carmel and his brothers John Joe, Eamon, Paddy and Tommy. Christy will be sadly missed by his sister Betty Freeman, Drum, Co. Monaghan, all his nephews, nieces and cousins, brothers in law, sisters in law, all his extended family and many friends in Cavan Town and beyond.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12C821) on Wednesday evening from 5pm until 6.30pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in the Cathedral of S.s Patrick and Felim, Cavan followed by burial in Cullies Cemetery.

Claire O'Driscoll

(née O'Reilly)

Artane, Dublin / Cavan

O’Driscoll (née, O’Reilly) Claire (Artane, Dublin and formerly of Bruse Hill, Maghera, Co. Cavan) March 17th 2025, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the care of all the staff at Tara Winthrop, Nursing Home, Swords. Beloved wife of the late Kieran and loving mother to Mary, Ciarán and Justin. Sadly missed by her loving family, son-in-law Tim, daughters-in-law Irene and Sinéad, grandchildren Michael, Bearach, Ciarán, Liam and Ruairí, sister Mary, brothers Anthony and Dermot, predeceased by sisters Imelda and Monica, brothers Paddy and Matty, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.

The Funeral Mass for Claire will take place on Thursday morning 20th March in the Church of the Nativity of Our Lord, Beaumont at 11am. Burial afterwards in Balgriffin Cemetery Extension. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

PJ Clerkin

Ardaghey, Monaghan, H18 W017

The death has occurred of PJ Clerkin, Ardaghey, Co.Monaghan, H18 W017. Tuesday 18th March peacefully at Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by his wife Peggy. PJ will be sadly missed by his daughters Dympna (Gordon Read), Monica and Pauline (Pádraig Ó Broin), his grandchildren Stephen, Peter, Aoibhín and Darach, his brother Seamus and sister Mary Ellen Connolly and wider family and friends.

PJ’s remains will repose at his home on Wednesday from 3pm - 9pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday morning at St.Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan at 11am. Burial afterwards in Calvary Cemetery, Latlurcan. House private to family and close friends on Thursday morning please.
