Major housing project on the cards for Cavan
A development company has signalled its intention to apply for planning permission to build a 134-unit housing project on the outskirts of Cavan Town.
Shire Development Partnership is set to apply to Cavan County Council for permission for the development on lands at the townlands of Drumalee and Billis on the Cootehill Road, almost adjacent to Breifne College. A single-storey creche and parking are also provided for in the plans.
In total, Shire wants to build 109 dwellings to consist of six one-bed, 39 two-bed, 59 three-bed and five four-bed units of varying designs.
The scheme, if permitted, will also include 25 duplex apartments, comprising of 15 one-bed units and 10 two-beds.
The residential dwellings will range in height from one to two storeys.
Road access and connections to the existing public footpath, along with a pedestrian crossing point, are proposed. Communal and public open spaces, play areas, lighting, planting and connection to services all form part of the plans.
A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared and accompanies this application.
The site notice has been signed off by Ronan Woods (Agent) Genesis Planning Consultants Dean Swift Building, Armagh Business Park, Hamiltonsbawn Road, Armagh, BT60 1HW.
It is is the latest in a series of planning applications concerning housing developments submitted to Cavan County Council in recent weeks.
Elsewhere, Meath registered Frisco Property Developments Limited has sought permission for the renovation of existing derelict outbuildings, a protected structure, in a rear courtyard at The Square, Bailieborough, to form six new townhouses.
A decision is due in April.
Meanwhile, council planners have deemed an application by Sunroc Developments Ltd as incomplete.
The Monaghan firm had outlined its intention to retain and complete two detached dwellings at Sites 1 & 2 Cnoic Alainn, Munnilly, Cootehill.
