It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.

Joe Briody

Clonoose, Ballyheelan, Kilnaleck, Cavan

Joe died peacefully after a short illness at Cavan General Hospital, on Wednesday 5th February 2025. Predeceased by his parents Brian and Teresa, sister Noleen, brother Patsy and nephew Pat.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Rena, sons Joe (Alma), Jim (Claire), daughters Teresa (Michael), Bernie (Anthony), Carmel (Colm), brother Cornelius, sisters Betty (Reilly), Margo (Nulty), Ann (McCrann), Rosleen (O'Connor), Kathleen (Beatty), Eileen (Brady), Mary (McGivney), treasured by his 17 grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Reillys Funeral Home, Kilcogy Village (N39 W1D6) on Thursday evening from 5pm to 8pm. Removal from his home on Friday morning, arriving St. Mary's Church Ballinarry (A82 Y825) for funeral mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Kiernan, Kathleen, (nee Prior) Eanaghan, Aughnacliffe, Co. Longford, Wednesday 5th Feb peacefully at her home in the loving care of her family. Pre-deceased by her husband Johnny and her son Pauric. Dear mother of Larry, Margaret, Sean and Cathy, grandmother of Joseph, David, Derek, Keith, Conor, Lyndsey, Stephen, Siobhan, Niamh, her 12 Great-Grandchildren, her sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends.

Kathleen will repose at her residence on Friday 7th Feb from 2pm-10pm (N39PD98), with removal to The Sacred Heart Church, Arva (H12RY96) for her requiem mass on Saturday 8th Feb at 11.30pm. Cremation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium Cavan (H12RF78) at approx 2pm.

Edgar McFadden, Church Road, Staplestown, Carlow and formerly of Kill, Cootehill, Cavan, February 3rd 2025 peacefully at the Mater Hospital, Dublin. Beloved husband of Evelyne and much loved father of Gordon, Carol, Linda and Nigel. Sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters, son-in-law Adrian, daughters-in-law Mary and Jill, grandchildren Grace, Daniel, Luke and Keira, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Predeceased by his brothers Arnold and Ivor.

Reposing at his home (R93 KV60) on Thursday from 3pm concluding with prayers at 6pm (house private outside of reposing times, please). Funeral Service on Friday at 1pm in Staplestown Church, Carlow R93 W566. Burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.

Tragically, following an accident. Predeceased by his grandparents Mickey, Josie, Patsy, Peggy and infant sister Aideen. Dearly loved by his heartbroken parents Eamon and Shirley, loving sisters Elaine (Berch) and Laura (Shane), adored daughter Mia, her Mam Michelle & cherished nephew Andrew. Sadly missed by his uncle, aunts, cousins, extended family, wide circle of friends and neighbours.

Suddenly but peacefully, at Our Lady's Hospital, Drogheda. Surrounded by her loving family, predeceased by her beloved husband John (Johnnie) and her dear brother Edwin. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her heartbroken children, Jannette (Hugh), Alastair (Ruth) and Aingeal (Larry), her cherished sister Ann Craven (Scotland) her adored grandchildren, Jonathan, Louis, Jessica, Amy and Gavin. Brothers in law. Sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The death has occurred of Tom Larkin, Larkins Garage, Brandrum, Threemilehouse, Co Monaghan, Tuesday 4th February, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Vera & Tommy, brother Noel, sisters Mary and Liz.

Tom will be forever loved and missed by his wife Alice, sons Paul (Jacqui), and Gary (Seanine). His grandchildren Tierna, Odhrán, Saoirse, Áine, Shéa and Tomás. will forever hold the memories they shared with him. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in law Collette, his nieces, nephews, neighbours and many friends.
