Sunshine and showers forecast today

Heavy hail showers possible later, according to Met Éireann.

Today will start off wet over much of Ulster with persistent rain, which will gradually clear to the southeast by mid-morning.

Sunshine and showers will follow with some heavy with hail possible. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees with fresh southerly winds becoming moderate to fresh, gusty southwesterly.

Tonight will be mainly dry with long clear spells as showers become isolated early in the night and become confined to coastal areas.

Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees with frost and icy patches forming in light to moderate southwest breezes.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be mainly dry with good spells of sunshine and just a few light showers near the northwest coast.

Highest temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees with light, occasionally moderate southwesterly breezes.
