Lough Egish water back on but boil water notice in place
The majority of Uisce Éireann customers supplied by Kilkitt Water Treatment Plant (Lough Egish Regional Water Supply) saw their supply return to normal levels overnight, however the Boil Water Notice on the supply remains in place.
Water supplies are returning to Latton, Rockcorry, Lough Egish, Castleblaney, Clontibret and Anyalla and most areas are being served.
Some small pockets on the supply may continue to experience disruption. This will be the case in areas on the supply which are served by booster stations, some of which have yet to recover power.
Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann are working to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible, in consultation with the HSE. In the meantime, all customers on this supply are advised to boil water before use until further notice.
Uisce Éireann wishes to thank affected customers for their understanding while crews worked to restore water supply in the wake of Storm Éowyn. Uisce Eireann also wishes to acknowledge the tireless efforts of crews on the ground, working alongside partners in the ESB and the local authority, to restore supply.
As water supply returns to affected customers, there may be instances of discolouration as the network refills. Customers are advised to run their taps until the water runs clear.
As a result of Storm Éowyn, a Boil Water Notice (BWN) was issued to protect the health of approximately 11,235 customers supplied by Lough Egish Regional Water Supply due to a loss of electricity at the plant which has impacted the treatment processes.
The impacted areas include: Castleblaney, Ballybay, Latton, Clontibret/Annyalla, Lough Egish and Rockcorry.
