BT Young Scientist Competition commences third day

Five schools are representing Cavan in this year's competition.

The BT Young Scientist competition is bustling with students from all over Ireland this morning.

Already within one hour of opening, the RDS Arena in Dublin is packed with students, spectators and judges.

Each is eagerly awaiting this evening's results to see who will win BT Young Scientist & Technologist(s) of the Year 2025, which comes with the chance to represent Ireland at the European Union contest for young Scientists, a cheque for €7,500 and a trophy. Best Individual or Best Group, the Runner-up Individual and Runners-up Group awards and Category Awards are also all to play for at this year’s competition.

Breifne College, Loreto College, St Bricin’s College, St Patrick’s College and Virginia College are among the Cavan cohort displaying their projects today.

Cavan schools are competing in the categories of Technology, Social and Behavioural Sciences, Biological and Ecological Sciences and Health and Wellbeing, with eight projects entered between them.

Stay tuned to hear what our students from Cavan have to say at the BT Young Scientist Competition.

The results are expected to be announced some time after 5:30pm this evening.
